Our Mission

Shine Speech and Feeding is dedicated to creating a fun and safe space for children and their families to acquire and practice new skills. We celebrate the unique personalities and strengths of each child and provide specialized support along the child’s journey toward communication and feeding success and ultimately, empower them to shine!

Vicki Hevener, M.A., CCC-SLP

Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist

Vicki received her Bachelor’s degree in hearing and speech science and her Master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders from Plattsburgh State University. Vicki brings over 20-years of experience to Shine Speech and Feeding. She has worked in early intervention programs, K-12 schools, private practices, and hospitals. During this time she gained valuable experience in helping children develop speech, language, feeding, and social skills.

 

Vicki believes in each child and their ability to learn and thrive. She is goal-oriented and at the same time, she is fun and compassionate. She is dedicated to establishing a trusting and lasting relationship with the child and their family. 

 

Vicki has advanced training in treating motor speech disorders and feeding and swallowing. She is certified in providing the SOS (Sequential Oral-Sensory) Approach to Feeding, Talk Tools Oral-Placement Speech Therapy, Talk Tools Sensory-motor Approach to Feeding,  and the Hanen – It Takes Two to Talk program. 

When Vicki is not supporting communication or feeding in the many families she works with, she is busy crafting, spending time with her husband, and enjoying the outdoors.
